Now that things are warming up, we’re eager to spend a little more time outside and squeeze in a few more weeks of skiing before the end of the ski season. Fortunately, the month of March brings us a great collection of events that riders of all ages and skill levels can enjoy before spring and summer take over our event schedule.
Northeast Meltdown (March 14)
What better way to greet the spring season than the Wachusett Northeast Meltdown? This is our biggest Terrain Park event of the year, featuring a great selection of obstacles and challenge courses for riders of all experience levels. We’re talking rails, boxes, jump lines, rollers, and wallrides—you name it, we have it. Whether you’re looking for a quick thrill or an entirely new type of way to enjoy your time on the mountain, the Northeast Meltdown is the place to be.
Cardboard Box Race (March 28)
Your mission: Construct a “sled” that can successfully carry one or more people through a short downhill course, using ONLY cardboard, duct tape, paint and decorations. Make it to the bottom and you’ll have the chance to win some great prizes!
This is the Cardboard Box Race, occurring the morning of March 28th. Get your family and friends together and unleash your creativity! Your sled can take any shape you want, from race car to pirate ship to space shuttle. This is the perfect event for kids who are just a bit too young to hit the slopes proper. Get the whole family involved and bring your racer to the finish line! Get your prizes after the race and head over to O’Brien’s for an afternoon drink on the patio.
Pond Skim (April 5)
Though the skiing season at Wachusett will be nearing its end on April 5th, we invite you to help us send it off with a bang!
If you’ve never been to one of our famous Pond Skim parties, now’s your chance! Participants are invited to don their favorite costumes and sign up for a turn at the slope. You’ll coast down an incline and hit the pond at the bottom, surfing along the water like a pro until you make it across. (Or until you splash headlong into the water. Whichever happens first.)
This is a great celebration for riders of all ages. We encourage everyone to put together their wildest and wackiest costumes and sign up! We’ll also be giving out prizes for Best Costume, Best Skim Run, and Best Splash – so come on out and join us!
Of course, this is just a taste of the spring activities we have lined up. Feel free to check out some of our other events, including the Saturday Super G Race, our Wine Down Wednesday night, or the 2020 YES Massachusetts Snow Challenge.
We’ll see you here!
